Mark Dressekie, a London Car Dealer, sent me a terrific infographic on effective billboard advertising. I especially like the five tips at the end of the graphic.
6 words or less. Don’t make your message too long because people are driving and don’t have much time to focus.
There’s only room for one hero. Make you message clear and call for action.
Your billboard is not a direct response medium. Web addresses and phone numbers can get lost. This is a problem when billboards are clutterred with too much print.
Be Smart, not clever. Don’t make your message too difficult to decipher.
Don’t say it, show it.
More is better. Buy at least three billboards and choose locations to suit your target audience.
